Good day, all! I apologize for missing the past couple weeks. Somehow I got distracted from doing these. Here’s my attempt to get us back on track! Welcome to the weekly pan-Kinja cross thread that’s hosted at

Some blogs host more often because that’s where the hosts have authorship privs. If you’d like to host, please let !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! know! Hosting involves posting the cross thread, including links to all the membership blogs in your post, and sending them an email/tweet/kinja notification with a link to your post.
Now that we have all survived our holiday food comas and Spring Breaks, what are your plans for the upcoming summer? Any fun road trips, meets, conventions, or other activities? Maybe where you live it’s actually turning into winter?
Around June every year I take a road trip to a smart car convention somewhere in the country. This year, we’re headed to Athens, Alabama!
Here’s the official video I made for the 2013 smart Nationals:
(Note: “Old me” is the narrator, so beware if hearing that would not be comfortable for you.)

I know what that’s like ;) Seriously though, these not being posted is on me. I kinda regret that back when I started these, I didn’t make a kinja account specifically for doing cross threads...but I also dunno that an account of that sort would have gotten the authorship privs that make this work.

You’re going to the wrong Athens down south.
I just bought some camping gear so I plan on doing that again. The ex hated it so I’m planning on making up for lost time.

Can’t say that I’ve ever stopped in Athens. Date dependent, I might try and swing by to say hey.

I can’t believe you’ll make such a long drive in a smart. I reviewed the Cabrio on a press trip in Brooklyn a couple years ago, and found it... punishing. Sitting on top of the engine is exhausting.
(Then again, I used to make 1,000+-mile trips in my ‘91 VW GTI, which didn’t have air conditioning. So clearly my judgment is a little skewed.)

It’s fine!
I suppose you could ask the mods of each blog to give that special account authorship just for the cross threads, though that might be a bit of a nightmare.

It’s a trip I’ve now made three times! The longest iteration was 2100 miles straight through from Long Beach to Chicago.
Two of the times I didn’t even have a cruise control. xD

I sort of hate cruise control and rarely use it. People always kind of think I’m nuts when I hear that.
But really — doesn’t your ass go numb? After an hour or so, my drive partner and I were arguing over who had to drive instead of who got to drive!
(They were really freakin’ cute though. Imagine a bunch of smart Cabrios in twenty different color combinations lined up in front of a swanky Brooklyn hotel.)

LOL dramatic voiceover is dramatic. :P
We just lost/got rid of Idjit Number Three in a sequence of shitty coworkers who turned out to be different but similar flavors of useless and varying levels of surly about it. Interviews for another one have already started. Y’all cross your fingers and toes for us.
